I’m Dana Snyder and I am running for Mayor of Southside.

There are 5 things that I want to concentrate on when I take office in November.  And that is:

  • Improve Public Safety

  • Improve Infrastructure

  • Recruit new businesses, while maintaining the businesses that we have

  • Transparency, because every citizen needs to know “What’s Happening in Southside”

  • Preserve the history of Southside, while planning for the future

As your next Mayor, I will focus on issues that are important to you:

1. Improve Public Safety.

Our police and fire departments are among the best there is. However, like all things, there is always room to help improve those departments through additional funding, working closely with the department chiefs and other local elected officials. The safety of our residents will be my number one priority.

2. Recruit New Businesses.

Businesses are the backbone of our economy and community. They are vital for our success as a city. That is why I pledge to always work diligently to recruit new business to Southside. Furthermore, I will also work with existing businesses to help meet their needs so they will stay in our city.

3. Improve Infrastructure.

Good, sound infrastructure is crucial for our city. I pledge to work diligently to seek funding for a new Southside bridge. This is long overdue. I will work cooperatively with our local legislative delegation and elected officials to make this a reality. Additionally, I will also work to improve the conditions of our roads and other issues. Infrastructure is not only roads and bridges; to be successful, we need a strong community infrastructure. The only way to progress as a city is to work with the citizens and understand the needs of the community. That is the winning formula.

4. Ensure Transparency and Openness in City Government.

I pledge to always have an open door policy as your next mayor. I will be a hands-on, accessible mayor and will always ensure transparency and openness in our city government. Our citizens have the right to know how their government is operating. I will work to ensure that the city website and social media sites stay current and provide the citizens with updated, useful information.

5. Preserve the History of Southside and Plan for the Future.

Southside was incorporated in 1957. Since that time, it has provided residents with a beautiful, friendly and safe community. It is truly a wonderful place to call home and a great place to visit. I would like to work towards developing a growth and strategic plan for Southside that cover the next 5, 10, and 20 years. This will help to ensure continued growth and progress for our city.
